Captain Planet and the Planeteers * Lard 69909 ** Grimbor In one episode - this is not much, mind you - Gi was running away from a messed up soldier and got caught in a rope trap. She then started hanging from the top of a tree. Real shame she didn't get tied up in that episode. But at least Cartoon Network shows the old version of the Captain Planet show, so I'll keep watching. There was also a decent capture scene in "The Predator", in which Gi and Ma-Ti got captured by some guy (don't remember his name) and later, got tied up and used as bait to catch sharks. Their mouths were gagged with rope and their hands were tied in front of them. Another episode sported Ma-Ti being tied up with rope around his side, pinning his arms to his side. In another episode, Gi got kidnapped by Hog Grimly and was tied to a rolling chair w/ her hands behind her back, and gagged, while barefoot. She freed herself using a piece of coral reef. Latest update: more captures on the next episode! This one was not so good though. 4 of the planeteers (all except Ma-Ti) enter a diner to eat but then ropes drop from the ceiling and warp around them pinning their arms to their sides. I am telling you, watch this cartoon! And in another episode, 4 of the planeteers (except Ma-Ti, again) got captured and tied up with their hands behind their backs and rope wrapped around them, and put on a runaway train. They managed to get free, and called Captain Planet. More captures in another episode: Gi and Ma-Ti got captured and had their hands tied behind them and a gag stuffed in their mouths. In another episode, everyone was captured and while Gi was locked in a cage, while the other 4 planeteers were shackled to a wall in a well while the water rose. In yet another episode, Linka and Kwame were captured and tied up with their feet together and hands tied to legs. Later they were being led around by mouse people by a rope tied to their hands. Wheeler also got tied up (arms at sides). In another episode, Linka was captured by some one-shot villian, the son of Hoggish Greedly. He captured Linka, put her in a car, gagged her, and put on some sort of very restricting seatbelt. As he says, "I don't usually wear a seatbelt, but this time I decided to make an exception!" I love it. In another episode, one dealing with other planeteers from the past that look very similar to those of the present, three of the old-style planeteers, the old-style versions of Wheeler, Kwame, and Gi are tied up with their hands behind their back, gagged, and with their feet in cement. Yeah, this show is crazy. > One episode you missed was one where Hoggish was capturing birds in the jungle. He also grabs Linka and Ma-ti and ties them up in a big cage. Later, they are retied up, now sit on a bird swing and cloth gagged. They are tied with hands behind back, feet together. >> "The Dead Seas" All the Planeteers get captured when Hoggish uses a giant electromangnet to attract their rings. The next scene has them all sitting with their hands locked in stocks while Hoggish rubs blubber (from his illegal whaling operation) on their on their fingers so he can remove the rings. After which he locks them unbound in a bathysphere so he can dispose of them later so of course they all escape. Cardcaptors * Biff Barksdale > In the episode "The Final Judgment", about ten minutes in, I believe, Sakura is held in midair by vines wrapped around her ankles and which pull her arms out from her body. Later they engulf her, but ultimately she magically frees herself. Cardcaptor Sakura 1st Movie * Mega -------mon > This movie isn't out in the US right now, but the cartoon is. So, just in case the movie does come out (or for international readers who may be able to get ahold of it), here's the scene as reported by this contributor: Early in the movie, there's a dream sequence where Sakura finds herself in a strange place full of water. Some bandage/scarf fabric came out and violently tightens around her, dragging her into the water. From her squeezed shoulders, we can see just how tight the restraining is. There's suppose to be another dream sequence involving the bandage-thingy, but I don't have enough info to describe it. In the final battle scene throughout the movie, we see our heroine Sakura flying over the streets of Hong Kong, evading the villaineses water-based attacks. After dodging a mulitple hydro-blast, the villainess resorts by shooting out her long scarfs and starts wrapping up Sakura, and reels her in. Next we see Sakura with her arms pinned tightly by the long scarfs. Even though her wrists aren't tied we see her hands pinned all the way behind her back. The bad lady wants to drown Sakura and starts gathering water to pour on her. Just before Sakura gets wet, we see a brief but futile struggling and she gets the drink. Then, we see her struggling while kicking around, suspended underwater. We see more of this until she eventually reaches for The Arrow card from her pocket, tosses it out and spins her body around, so that her staff (still in her right hand throughout the scene) will hit the card, activating it. The Arrow card fires mulitple arrows which tore through the scarf and we see Sakura climbing out of the water. Case Closed aka Detective Conan Episode 2 A 10 year old girl is kidnapped and Conan sets off to rescue her, riding her pet dog to the location where she is being held. The girl is tied up with her arms at her sides, and tape gagged with a single strip. Episode 4 Conan and his gang of friends (2 boys, one girl) are captured in this episode dealing with an encoded treasure map and an Italian gang. While the gang figures out the exact location of the treasure, they pay no mind to the group who they've just tied up. Conan and his friends are tied with rope on their toros pinning their arms to their sides, and their hands are crossed and tied behind their backs. The group manages to knock the criminals unconscious through means I can't easily describe, and rushes off to a police station to get untied. When they do, we see that their hands are also tied to each other via a rope leading from each person's wrists to the next. * Brian R > Episode: "The Shooter" (1.15 - Japanese episode 14) The wife of a sharpshooter is kidnapped to force her husband to perform an assassination. She's on the rooftop with him, kneeling, held at gunpoint by one of the crooks. There is rope wrapped around her upper body and she's gagged with white cloth over the mouth. There are a couple of closeups and some muffled sounds from her. This took place in the last 10 minutes or so. Before that, there were some other brief shots of her. Castle in the Sky * Grimbor > Disney's English dubbed version of Hayao Miyazaki's "Laputa : Castle in the Sky" includes a sequence where Sheeta is lead by Colonel Mousaka into a hidden control chamber (overgrown with plants after centuries of abandonment) with her hands tied behind her back. She's seen in hologram throwing herself at Mousaka and warning the soldiers as he begins turning Laputa's defenses against his former military comrades. Back in the chamber knocks her aside but with his attention focused on the controls she's able to struggle unobserved and loosen the ropes to free herself. The Centurions * Lard 69909 In an episode dealing with a tornado, some female character (don't know her name, sorry) gets captured by Hacker and tied up, ropes pinning arms to sides. She is later gagged with duct tape. It doesn't take very long then for a centurion to rescue her. > In an episode using one of my all-time favorite plot devices, The Evil Twin, The good witch is chained to a chair and gagged in her house. Clone High * Grimbor > During the first episode "Escape to Beer Mountain: A Rope of Sand" young Joan of Arc is tied to a chair in Principal Scudworth's office where he tries to interrogate her so he can write a report on the lifestyle of young clones. Infuritated when she insults Jay Leno he pushes the button to send her (and the chair) into his "Death Maze" though this turns out to be the heating ducts and she escapes without too much trouble. Codename Kids Next Door * Grimbor > "Operation C.A.B.L.E.-T.V. (Crazed Arrogant Baby Loses Every Television Viewer)" Mr. B (who looks like a baby), the head of the Children's TV network about to go global offers the Kids their own TV show in exchange for access to the KND global satellite network. The TV show is both lame and a trap and Numbah One is grabbed by the supposed prop robot Homeworko. He looks for help but female KND agents Numah Five and Numbah Three are gagged and hanging upside down wrapped in chains alongside the boys (Numbah Two and Four) so there's nothing to stop Mr. B from unleashing his baby ray. Which will turn everyone into babies so he won't be a freak anymore. Numbah One manages to deflect the beam and cut the other kids down but they're still tied up after the fall. But that doesn't stop them from hopping into action and knocking over the robot whcih leaves them lying helpless on their sides. But the impact when they jumped at the robot freed Numbah One (and knocked the robot into the baby ray which turns it into a toaster) and he's able to untie them so they can all take care of Mr. B. "Operation T.E.E.T.H. (Tooth Extracting Enemy Terrorises Headquarters)" Vigilante dentist Nightbrace traps Numbah 5 and Numbah 2 (boy) in a web of dental floss. When they track him to Dr Teef's office he glues Numahs 3 and 5 (along with KND boys 2 and 4) to the wall with superglue toothpaste but the real Dr Teef saves the day. "Operation P.I.R.A.T.E. (Pirates Invade Repository And Treats Extracted)" Since she won't let go off her candy stash Numbah 5 is dragged off with it by Stickybeard the candy pirate. Once aboard his ship the Sweet Revenge she's tied to the mast with red licorice. After struggling usulessly against her bonds it occurs to her that it's licorice and she eats her was to freedom. "Operation P.O.I.N.T." (Prowling-Operatives-Investigate-Naughty-Teenagers) At the very end of the episode (which might follow the final commercial break before the show credits role) we briefly see all five mustard spattered kids tied up with ropes around their toros sitting on their couch (boys in the front, girls in back) and their treehouse has been turned into a rollerskating rink. They were evidentally overpowered between scenes by angry teenagers after accidentally destroying their rollerskating rink with the Condiment Cannon. "Operation: C.A.M.P." (Children-Are-Miserable-Parents) The mind controlled children of Camp Lemmeouttahere use the decorative lanyards they've made to snare all the Kids binding their arms to their sides. They're saved when Bradley the baby skunk's cries for help are answered by his parents and their scent spraying destroys the brainwashing. "Operation K.I.S.S." (Kid's Identity Suddenly Sixteen) Cree, Numbah 5's evil teenage sister, has just beaten 4 of the 5 kids when she's shot from behind with a yoyo gun by her boyfriend Hank. Wrapped in yoyo string she hits the floor and finds out why Hank turned on her when he transforms into Numbah 2 (a lab accident at the start of the episode turned him into a teenager). Still wrapped she's wheeled aboard a KND space shuttle to be taken to the prison on the moonbase and is seen at the end of the episode free but locked in a cell. Except that she's making a call on a hidden commuicator that she's being taken to the moonbase so everything's going according to plan. "Operation F.U.G.I.T.I.V.E." (Facing Unpleasant Girl's Insulting Taunts Isn't Very Enjoyable) The just turned 13 renegade agent 206 is on the run and accidentally knocked out by Numbah's 1,2 & 4 opening a door. When Numbah 86 who was leading the pursuit finds them Numbah 206 has been mummified by them for transport but she hates boys so she takes all the credit when she gets "him" back to the moonbase. Except that when unwrapped Numbah 206 is revealed to actually be Numbah 362, the head of the KND and she blames 86 for ruining her undercover operation. C.O.P.S. * Lard 69909 > In one episode, the bad guys are stealing stuff from some place with remote control suits, which convince people that ghosts are doing the stealing, which is what the bad guys want everyone to think. Well the "tomboy"-ish, blond computer expert of the C.O.P.S. starts snooping around. So the bad guys, knowing how smart she is, decide to kidnap her. They use one of the remote controlled suits to wrap around, effectively binding and gagging her, then the other suit puts her in this capsule type thing, and send her down a shaft where she falls into the bad guys van outside, When we see her next, she is tied to a stool in the van with a detective style gag over her mouth. The scene is fairly long and she does some MMMPHH-ing along the way. Cowboy Bebop * Biff Barksdale > In the episode "Session 3: Honky Tonk Women", a couple of minutes in, Faye Valentine is seen cuffed in front. Around the 15' mark, she's shown cuffed by Spike to the rails on either side of the Bebop's toilet. In the episode "Session 4: Gateway Shuffle", about eight minutes in, Twinkle Murdock, the leader of a rogue "ecoterrorist" group, is shown secured to a seat on the Bebop with straps around her upper torso. A few minutes later, Faye Valentine joins her ... seated with her arms cuffed overhead. In the episode "Session 5: Ballad of Fallen Angels", Faye Valentine, dressed in evening wear, is captured by Vicious. She's shown with her wrists above her bound behind a pole about halfway in, then a little later seen with them behind her back. In the episode "Session 13: Jupiter Jazz" Part 2, Grin (?) overpowers Faye after she uses him for target practice, pulling her arm behind her, at around 6 minutes in. At about 10 minutes in, Jet finds her unconscious on a bed with her wrists cuffed behind her ... there's a lingering closeup on them. Cowboy Bebop The Movie * BondoFox > "Cowboy Bebop: The Movie" had some *nice* scenes (plural!) of Faye Valentine, having been kidnapped, hands behind her back, taped at the wrists and ankles in the empty room of an abandoned apartment building. She's not gagged, she has to make conversation with the bad guy until he finally leaves her behind. She's shown from a number of different angles and positions (on her side, on her back, etc). Good movie if you ever want to check it out. Cybersix * Grimbor > During the episode "Lori is Missing" Lori winds up tied to a post at a secret construction site then gagged by Jose after she mouths off at the little creep. Cybersix is apparently tied up during "Yashimoto, Private Eye" but it turns out to be a decoy dummy. However she gets wrapped by artificial spider webbing during the robot circus of "The Greatest Show in Meridiana".
