Batman (1960's Filmation version) * Lard69969 > In 'The Great Scarecrow Caper" Batgirl is captured by the Scarecrow. We see her first, tied in a barn with her hands behind her. She escapes and then is recaptured. This time she is laying down with her hands tied behind her, her legs tied at the ankles, and a nice detective style gag over her mouth. In another episode with the villian Simon The Pieman, Barbara Gordon is kidnapped by Simon and held captive at a park. She is tied to a chair with her hands behind her and in the close-up rope around her neck. She is also detective gagged. The Batman (2004-) * Biff Barksdale [and] Zorro ** Grimbor > Episode: "Q & A" (1.8) Around 12 minutes in, Russian chess champion Yelena Klimonov (phonetically guessing at the surname) is abducted at the big match. The Caped Crusader (or whatever his nick is in this incarnation) comes to the rescue, and during the donnybrook we see her bound shoulders to ankles with what appears to be duct tape, and overgagged with gray cloth. There are a couple of good shots among the imagery. This segment runs about three minutes, with an ad break mixed in, before she's spirited off in a car. She's next seen ungagged and chained wrists in front to a pole. Finally she's chained wrists to either side of a game-show podium for pretty much the remainder of the ep. She's somewhat plain, in keeping with the stereotype of a female chess master. She's bespectacled and wearing a gray skirted suit. >> "Strange Minds" At the start of the show Detective Yin is knocked out when her pizza delivery guy turns out to be the Joker. About 3 minutes in (after the commercial break) she wakes up wearing a harlequin costume and tied hand and foot inside a giant jack in the box that's set to spring open and explode at midnight. Near the end of the show it's almost midnight and she's getting understandably edgy as a ten second countdown starts. Batman manages to do a knick of time rescue and deactivate the detonator though the box springs open. Batman catches the falling Yin, curiously all the ropes disappeared when the box sprang open. >>"Night And The City" The police chief discovers Detective Yin setting up a meeting with The Batman to discuss his anti-bat taskforce and turns it into a trap. When Batman arrives he finds himself targeted by SWAT snipers and Yin standing with the police chief with her hands cuffed in front of her. Fortunately for them both The Riddler has a wager with Penguin and the Joker about who gets Batman first and he's not to let the police ruin his game so he blacks out the building. Batman grabs Yin and escapes upwards via his grapple then flees with her across the rooftop and down to the Batmobile where he's able to undo her cuffs. At the end of the show when the police arrive to find Yin with all 3 villians unconscious she surrenders and puts out her wrists to be cuffed again but Commissioner Gordon intervenes as after all the bad press they've had about Batman getting all the crooks it'll look good if Yin gets the crdit. So the chief reluctantly rescinds the arrest warrant and returns her badge. >"Fleurs du Mal" (3.8) Poison Ivy has replaced several prominent persons in Gotham City with plant replicas. About 18' in, we see them held in tanks with some sort of "knockout" flower over their mouths which renders them unconscious. Later, Batgirl (voiced by Danielle Judovits) and Batman are enwrapped in vines and also flower-gagged. Batman frees himself after the ad break, then releases Batgirl. The sequence lasts around three minutes. Batman Beyond * Lard 69909 ** Xosaur >"Rebirth" At the beginning of the show a young heiress is kidnapped, and held in an abandoned airport hangar. She has her legs and feet wrapped in what looks like tape. Her arms are taped around a pole, and she has what looks like a detective style gag over her mouth. Some "mmpphh"-ing, and fairly long scene. >> In Batman Beyond, an episode about an escaped robot named Zeta, Zeta ties up and gags one of Terry's teachers and impersonates her. The agency that built zeta ambush him outside the school and zeta flees, later, the police search the teachers home and find the teacher tied-up in the basement, a little mmmmphing. Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker * Biff Barksdale > In this film version of the series, Amy (unknown), the girlfriend of some low-life exec, is briefly shown bound to a pole with rope wrapped around her arms and midsection and overgagged about 56 minutes in, with ads (CARTOON NETWORK airing). Earlier, around 28 minutes in, Dana is handgagged for a bit by a baddie. Two shots over several minutes (with an ad break), separated by a trip to the Bat Cave. Batman: Gotham Knights *SEE INSTEAD: The New Batman/Superman Adventures Batman the Animated Series * Hunter ** Lard 69909 *** Grimbor > "Batman, the Animated Series" had a lot of scenes (Catwoman tied up numerous times, gagged once - Batgirl tied up once - and a ton of other woman B/G scenes). >> Batgirl's only B&G scene in the cartoon came at the hands of the Scarecrow. She B&G in a barn, laying down, as bait for Batman & Robin. >>> In the ninties animated Batman series (titled simply "Batman" but also known as "Batman the animated series" and "Batman : The New Adventures") in the episode appropriately titled "Zatanna" the female magician is handcuffed with her hands behind her back after being falsely charged with grand larcency. Later in the episode she's chained back to back with Batman and facing being pushed out of a plane. In the same series in the episode "Almost Got Him", Batman goes undercover to find the missing Catwoman who turns out to be tied up on a conveyer belt leading to a mincing machine in a petfood factory. Harley Quinn is taunted the bound and gagged Selina Kyle while waiting for the Joker to call and give her the okay to throw the switch. Naturally Batman gets there before it's too late. The Batman/Superman Movie (animated movie) * Cris > In this movie Lois Lane is kidnapped by Joker and held as bait for Superman and Batman. At first she is bound on the chair and gagged with a handkerchief (or cloth) over the mouth. Later the gag was removed then Lois started to curse Joker but then the gag was stuffed back in her mouth. She elicits some mmmphhs here. Later as Joker contacts Superman, Joker shows Lois hanging still bound and gagged. This continues until Superman and Batman arrive to rescue Lois. Lois emits some mmmphhs here. In the later part of the movie, the chauffer of Lex Luther is bound and gagged with tape. She gets taped on a mechanical contraption so that Superman won't be able to destroy the machine immediately. She too emits some mmmphhs. Beavis and Butthead Do America (Animated Movie) In one part of the movie, a man who ordered Beavis and Butthead to kill his wife comes across his still living wife. He ties her hands behind her back, but nothing develops out of this, as she convinces him to let her go by saying they should kill Beavis and Butthead together. BeetleJuice (cartoon, not the movie) * Brian R. In one episode dealing with a salad that turns into a monster who tries to take over the Netherworld, Lydia and BeetleJuice are captured and tied to coffins standing up, arms at sides. Ropes are wrapped around the coffins pinning the two to them, but ropes are also wrapped around Lydia herself seperately as well as around the coffin. In an episode in which 4 kids from Lydia's school (including Lydia) are taken to the Netherworld for "lessons" from BeetleJuice, Lydia and the 3 female classmates chosen were captured by a sheriff and tied up together, arms at sides, rope wrapped around. Not much rope is used. They are then shown with their hands shackled together, and to each other's hands. > In one episode, Lydia was caught helping BeetleJuice with a bogus magic act, and was tied to a chair and gagged with a big hankie-type gag. Biker Mice From Mars * Carl > The story is about three mice from Mars with suped up bikers that land on Earth to fight against an alien character that polluted Mars. They meet up with Charley, a short, brown haired woman, that runs a garage by herself. In the first episode, the villain sends his henchman, Greasepit, to attack the human sized mice. While the three characters talk amongest themselves, Charley goes to investigate a noise she heard coming from outside. She looks out a large hole in the garage door when suddenly Greasepit's greasy hand claps over Charley's mouth. The mice decide to find out where Charley went and look through the hole to see Charley sitting on a giant bear trap with her hands tied behind her back and her mouth and noise covered by a yellow cloth gag. She works the gag off and tell the Biker Mice that it's a trap. > The three characters at the beginning of the episode decide to find out why Charley is late from picking up a disabled car. They ride out to find Charley hanging up side down from her own tow truck with her hands tied behind her, her feet tied together, and her mouth gagged with a single strip of tape. After a struggle with the villains, Charley is cut down and lands on Vinny's lap. It takes about a minute for her to be untied. > I believe this is from a two-part episode. Charley, the Biker Mice, and Limburger are transported back to Camelot where Charley is kidnapped while dressed like a princess. Limburger uses a viewing screen to reveal Charley's situation. Charley is bouncing across the background in order to escape. She is bound hands behind back with a cloth gag across her mouth. Bionic Six * Lard 69909 > This show had some nice characters and animation, but the stories were either hit or miss. Which seemed to be the case with a lot of 80's cartoons. Never the less, let us begin. Okay, I remember one episode in which Mother 1 (Not to be confused with the Mother One in the comic book Wetworks.) lost control of her psi powers and sent everyone on a wild goose chase. Later, she is captured and tied to a chair as Scarab (The main bad guy, or at last the one used 98% of the time.) tells her of his evil plans. Next we have an episode where Scarab (Pay attention now. You notice a theme developing.) want to find the perfect woman to marry, and picks Mother 1. After he captures her, the other members of the Bionic Six are joined by a lady detective. But, when we return to he office we find out that she is the female villian (Whose name eludes me now.), and the real woman is bound and gagged in the closet. Okay, one more. This one is also one of my all-time favorite scenes in a cartoon series. In an episode titled "Music Power", Rock 1 (One of my all-time favorite characters in a series.) joins the family as they protect a robotic rock band called "The Bandroids" (Talk about lame concepts. I still laugh at this.) . Well along comes Scarab (Will someone explain to me why this guy is still breathing? He's tried to take over the world 62 times out of 65 episodes. I think at some point you have to realize he is beyond rehab, and just waste the jerk. It would certainly make their lives easier.), and he wants to capture the robots for some evil plan. Well it seems Rock 1 gets caught in the trap for the robots as well, so Scarab ties her up and cloth gags her, leaving her in his command center. And this last for half the episode. Not bad for a lame story. Birdman and the Galaxy Trio * Biff Barksdale > Each show of this series premiering in 1967 consisted of two BIRDMAN and one GALAXY TRIO ep. This was the 16th GT segment. Two scenes of interest: The first was of Gravity Girl mummied in bandages fired from the villain's weapon, in order to place mind control bands on her ankles. The second involved the other Trio members putting their hand on her mouth, grabbing her around the waist, pinning her arms at her sides, and around her calves, pinning her kicking legs together, so that they could remove the bands as she resisted their attempts to do so. Bonkers * WayCool104 > Episode: "A fistful of anvils" Bonkers tells Miranda's nephew Timmy the story of how TrailMix Bonkers and Two-Gun the bounty hunter saved the old west town of Lawless from the clutches of Al Varmint. As I recall, Miranda (*ahem* "Two-Gun") is about to apprehend the bad guys when Bonkers bungles things as usual, and both she and the bobcat get tied to a wooden support beam of an underground mine; they are both seated, ropes tied around their waists. They escape under the cover of pitch darkness after the baddies leave. Episode: "Tokyo Bonkers" Bonkers and Miranda escort toon villain Z-Bot to Tokyo, where Bonkers is still a major star. But Z-Bot escapes with the help of the Ninja Kitties. Miranda and some Japanese dude catch up to them, only to get caught and wrapped up in metal tentacles. Bonkers later shows up to save the day, in his bizarre cartoony fashion. Episode: "The toon that ate Hollywood" Envious at how easily toons can make people laugh, Gloomy the Clown steals Ludwig von Drake's humorizer, which robs toons of their sense of humor. Miranda and Bonkers both get caught, and Bonkers gets hit with the humorizer. Without his humor, he can do nothing by cry ceaselessly, and to make matters worse, they are both cuffed hands behind the back and lowered into a glass tank to meet their doom via ye olde flooding room peril scenario. (classic peril with a twist! Double Word score!...or something) Anyway, Miranda slips free, and with Bonkers unable to be of any help, she grabs some pepper which the bobcat so convieniently happens to have, and... well, any cartoon buff can guess the effect pepper has on a toon's olfactory senses. :) BOTS Master * Anime Captor > Blitzy, the younger sister of the main character, stumbles in to an enemy operation and is captured. Throughout the rest of the episode, she is shackled to a metal frame, behind a cage, with steel gag around her mouth. The gag can loosen and fold down with the push of a button. She screams angrily an awful lot while the gag is on. Blitzy had both her hands shackled around shoulder level and her feet where shackled at the ankles. She was at ground level. It was an excellent DiD scene, but looking back I can't help but think that it was excessive. A steel cage, binders on the arms and wrists, and a metal gag. All to contain a non-super-powered ten-year-old. Sheesh, the bad guys were really paranoid. Bratz *Grimbor >There are no onscreen episode titles and I've yet to find an episode guide that lists more than the first episode so I can't identify this episode by title. Two of the Bratz girls are abducted by a pair of dimwitted kidnappers and taken to a warehouse where they're watched but not restrained. Shortly afterwards their twin sister rivals stumble into the warehouse and get grabbed too. While the Bratz girls are content to keep quiet and wait for an opportunity to escape the sisters keep babbling until the kidnapper on guard loses patience, sits them on the floor and ties them back to back. He then says he needs tape and one of the sisters unwisely mentions she's got tape in her bag which he uses to gag them to the relief of both him and the Bratz girls. When next seen (when one of the Bratz girls demonstrated her martial arts skills) they're ungagged and they're seen briefly at the end of the episode still tied up in the warehouse complaining loudly about everyone having forgotten about them. Bravestar * BLAH > One female character was bound and gagged. The show was a cross between a Western and science fiction, and the judge of the town was a woman, J.B. was her name. She was captured by what looked like midgits on motorcyles and brought to the bad guys' lair where she was bound, lying down with hands behind the back, and gagged with a cloth tied over the mouth. Quite a bit of moaning and struggling, especially when the bad guy taunted her, holding a glass of water and saying "Bet you're thirsty," and then dumping out the water right in front of her. Eventually she struggled free, but still a great scene. [episode name "Kerium Fever", supplied by Risley18] BRUNO the Kid Cartoon about some little kid who goes to various parts of the world to solve crimes. In one episode he and the black man who follows him around and helps him out are both captured and tied to a pole on a train with a bomb. Arms are at sides, and also, Bruno the kid is so short that the ropes wrapped around the black man's ankles also wrap around the kid's arms. Later in that episode, they fall into a trap which pins their arms to their sides. The villians remove their shoes and if they can't get free in time, their feet will touch an electrified subway rail which will fry them. In another ep, the two are tied up, hands together, ropes wrapped around lower legs. In another episode, Bruno, Yarley (that's the black man's name, I think that's how you pronounce it), and a scientist and his adult daughter are tied to stakes in the ocean. Close-up of Bruno's hands as he frees himself (with help from a fish). In another episode, Bruno and Yarley are tied to the trolley tracks to be run over. After the commercial break, they are hogtied instead of arms-at-sides. Now I'm starting to wish that GIRL would be involved in one episode! Buster and Chauncey's Silent Night * Grimbor > Unlucky orphan girl Christine is abducted by two thieves posing as aristocrats after she stumbles across them plundering the cathedral's treasures. She's dragged off and briefly seen lying in their stagecoach gagged and with her hands tied behind her. On arriving at their hideout, an old barn, they re-tie her with her hands behind a post. Christine works off her gag and exchanges words with the woman guarding her before being regagged. There is also some rope wrapped around her torso as well, pinning her to the pole. Chauncey (one of the two cartoon mice who are the stars of the show) sneaks onto a handy barrel behind the post and attempts to untie Christine's wrists but has no luck until his buddy Buster arrives. Christine is freed and escapes, throwing her ropes into her abductor's face to distract her. Close-ups of her bound wrists, and on-screen tying as well. Buzz Lightyear of Star Command * Biff Barksdale > In the episode "The Torque Armada", Princess (and Space Ranger) Mira Nova is clamped down to the bow of a spaceship hurtling toward its doom at around the 17' mark. But she "ghosts" out of it, and all ends well. Near the end of the episode "Sunquake", Gravitina is led away in space-age manacles. In the episode "Little Secrets", Mira has her arms wrapped up in large vines at around the 11' mark. She's actually in their clutches for some time, but her arms are free for all but the beginning of the sequence. In the episode "Strange Invasion", in a twist on the Roswell legend, Mira and Buzz are the aliens captured and examined by "little green men". Mira is briefly seen clamped down to a table with metal bands around 15 minutes in. In the episode "Panic on Bathyos", Mira is snagged in seaweed at about ten minutes in. Her knees are wrapped in the stuff, and it encircles her upper arms ... and unfortunately the huge propulsion jets on her back as well. In the episode "Mindwarp", about 22 minutes in, Mira is grabbed by a good-sized, but not what I'd deem a giant, robot, pinning her arms. Buzz comes to her aid, and she's freed... but she gets grabbed again 3 minutes later! In the episode "Shiv Katall", Mira and some of the crew are netted about 21 minutes in, then cuffed and marched about for a bit. In the episode "The Plasma Monster", in a very brief scene about seven minutes in, Petra, a senator's daughter, is nabbed by the "monster" (actually her boyfriend) ... her arms pinned to her sides by a beam of energy ... and taken from the Rangers' ship. She's seen just after in a long shot, held in his giant grip for a few seconds. In the episode "A Zoo Out There", Mira, in a one-piece swimsuit, is netted along with Booster around halfway in. A little later, dressed in her royal duds, she and the others are clamped down to tables for a fairly lengthy sequence. In the episode "Revenge of the Raenoks", about 21 minutes in, Mira and most of the crew are seen for a bit fettered wrists in front in "energy" cuffs of some sort. In the episode "NOS-4-A2", about 18 minutes in, Mira and Buzz are seized by animated cables. Nice imagery of Mira bound in them ... although she almost immediately "ghosts" out of her restraint. In fact, this scene is only a few nanoseconds longer than its clip in many of the openings. Around 21 minutes in, she's grabbed about the arms by the robot vamp of the ep title for a few seconds, before administering a shot to his artificial gut per her Space Ranger training. Another scene that appears in openings.
